supported by
Dmitry Nevozhay
Dmitry Nevozhay thumbnail
Dmitry Nevozhay Dreamy post-metal melted with gloomy post black-doom, with different vocal styles, from shriek to growling Favorite track: Sepia.
Darknight
Darknight thumbnail
Darknight This band is unbelievable, three tracks of unstoppable blackened post metal. Sepia just destroys everything in sight, obliterated by the sheer musicality of this remarkable band. Favorite track: Sepia.

hoenikker I run out of superlatives for this band. Just atmosphere personified.
Sonny92
Sonny92 thumbnail
Sonny92 A three-track ep of atmospheric metal that combines crushingly heavy and desperate-sounding blackened sludge with airy and ethereal post-metal. Check out closing track, Sepia with it's gentle opening that segues into a chugging and exhilarating armageddon of metal mayhem for a superb example of what modern metal is all about. Favorite track: Sepia.
Shapeshifting
Shapeshifting thumbnail
Shapeshifting Only one track so far from this but this is some great spring/summer vibing black metal. Those days are surely welcoming here up north. Favorite track: Grief Tourist.
Gary Davidson

Gary Davidson Losing their vocalist and focal point seemed like it may have been the end, but Ba’al have come back stronger and darker and made the transition seem so simple.

My review for Echoes and Dust www.echoesanddust.com/2019/05/baal-reverence/ Favorite track: Sepia.

Stranger fiction Fantasy, patterns of distorted sorrow Aimless, protracted sadness Monetised, shape shifting lies Fawning, posturing stature Take your bow as the curtain falls This path was cleared long before you arrived No bodies dredged from these fetid rivers No hearts wrought by tragic romance This is how it is and always will be This path, so well trodden By braver folk than you Their feet torn to shreds For they gave away their shoes A proponent of vicarious sorrow The tear drop upon a clowns face Another arm of painted scars Another weeping willow bent So dip your quill in a bleak fantasy And write yourself some demons Let the words rise from the page False heartfelt inertia But the end will not fulfil No rush of blood to come Throughout this you’ll remain hollow Feigned grief won’t fill you in

Is this real? Am I in a dream? To hear your voice To see you fulfil your dreams I kiss my hand And place it upon mahogany skin To hear your voice To see you fulfil your dreams Am I in a dream? Is this real?

Sepia 09:52
Through dark unconscious streets we stumble With distant lights to guide Our whisky soaked desires for the future His weight indented upon my shoulder Soldiers returned home - veterans without uniform Within thick darkness - hands outstretched to feel our way And there we found the churchyard This place when we were just boys Cigarettes and cider upon the stones It was just a place to go to dream Beneath shadows cast by angels “Let’s stay here until the sun rises” He said “I can’t see for the dark” There was a faint glisten in his eyes And upon those stones we sat To see the sun birth from the opening hills of the horizon What is this sickly copper sun? Bleeding into overcast skies A drape of vermilion rot Pollution soaked into the eyes He lay down between the graves and said “It feels so pleasant to lie here” The smoke wound up from his cigarette And disappeared into the sky These memories as though a photograph Victorian, post mortem And I don’t know what is real any more
